The dignity over freedom of mockery!

So again they mock, make fun, ridicule millions of people's belief, culture, traditions and few of us silently protest with ethical and legal way. And, still so called celebrities have issue with our way of protest. We are called communal and regressive for just raising concerns for own faith. We have been hounded, killed, destroyed repeatedly by all kinds of foreigners starting from 712 A.D. Millions of native Indians(Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs) have been killed over the period and it's documented well in the history. And still today we are being called bigoted for defending my own faith. Can't a person with multiple injuries even defend own self? What do we do?

We need an honest conversation on two points.

1. Belief & dignity

2. Freedom of mockery through democratic freedom of expression

Let me start with my own story; Back in 2007/8, fresh out of engineering and when Narendra Modi didn't even complete his 2nd term as a Gujarat CM, I used to feel offended when people made fun of my and may be crores of other people's belief through the means of entertainment but I never gave too much of thought to it. I was raised in the middle class family of 90s. My mother was religiously Hindu who believed in murti puja and father was staunch atheist who never believed in any religious customs. Mummy used to do puja every morning and sometimes in evening and papa never did until 1999. By the time I became mature enough to understand logical aspects of all these, I saw two opposite views for same thing. That thing was BELIEF.

Mummy believed in murti puja and papa believed only in logical reasoning. Papa had a strong opinion about his beliefs. He even used to make fun of religious customs but that was rarely. Papa read and heard many of Osho Rajnish's discourses because he explained everything thru logical reasoning. Osho attracted many young people like my father at that time throughout the world. So I was raised with such wonderful environment of mixed beliefs. Broadly it was bhakti and gyaan. Somehow I never rejected any of them in my mind. May be, I kept myself open for both paths. Moving ahead from my school days to college days, we came in contact with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar's organization The Art of Living. Something beautiful happened due to acceptability of wholesome idea of Hinduism within the organization. My father attended basic course on Pranayam, Sudarshan Kriya and then an advance meditation course. My mother obviously, being a hindu believer, followed the suit. Both of them found place for their beliefs at the same place. Both opened up for each other's belief system. Papa understood the importance of bhakti, puja and daily rituals. Mummy understood the importance of gyaan, understanding essence of ancient hindu texts. And my sister and I followed them later by doing multiple courses and serving needy people through the AOL. Both of us found all practices so interesting and we both tried to learn and understand this amazing gyaan written and preserved by ancients of this amazing hindu civilisation. This is the importance of dignity and respect!

I narrated the story of my home to tell you that dignity is as important as freedom of expression. I really don't think mockery is an expression but it is bullying. Unfortunately, this doesn't fit in modern definition of expression and democratic rights. If papa would have made good fun of bhakti or mumma made fun of the sankhya, we could have never progressed from that point. Yes, we might have had fun for few moments. But, that would be useless in individual's progress or widening of our thought process. Making continuous fun or ridiculing of anyone's belief doesn't solve ANY PURPOSE but yes, its a freedom of expression in democracy! By constant bombarding on anyone's belief from all different sources, by all different people, from all different channels have made youth of this generation develop an irritation to this wonderful space of ideas, own religion, own culture, own profound knowledge, own ancestors. Today's youth would never even think to plunge themselves in reading Bhagwad Gita or Ashtavakra Gita or Yoga Vasistha or stories of Mirabai or Narsinh Mehta or Vivekanand and 1000s of more philosophers India had. Why? We are closing the brains of millions of young people from all of these just in the name of freedom of expression!

What a terrible loss!

Same time we never ridicule science and scientists. We never ridicule the modern science even though we don't understand it at all in detail. May be because collectively we think that's one of the necessity to progress in this world. If we don't know, we just leave. And, don't we have enough topics or characters or subjects around the world to ridicule in the name of fun? What purpose do we solve by making such mockery? We would have fun and laugh for few minutes on the expense of closing doors for millions of young from exploring a well researched, experienced by many, 1000s of years old philosophy, techniques and knowledge! It's a science, developed by many scientists(rishis) over thousands of years. Fun is good but continues mockery of peaceful, tolerant, accommodative, progressive culture is not good! We have to decide what do we want our children to learn?

Crux is;

Along with democratic freedom of expression, we need to make sure that we don't mock. In a democracy, freedom to do anything mustn't mean that you keep ridiculing your own culture by all the possible means. If few people who can't understand this simple logic or they have their own philosophy of mocking other's beliefs, law must protect land's own culture, philosophy, techniques, traditions and beliefs of lacs of people! We are wasting whole lifetime of so many young minds for few minutes of fun. Let the youth of this generation take plunge in the infinite universe of knowledge offered by ancient rishis and universities!

Let there be freedom to feel dignified!

The Era of Provocation

Since 26th May 2014, something has changed in India which has triggered "The Era of Provocation".

Every other intellectual, liberal, secular wants to be revolutionary and poke in eye of Hindus - silent majority of India. The only motive behind this (as I see) is to instigate some of aggressive, sensitive and stupid Hindus, use them and their reactions to brand whole majority as violent and communal. And to their surprise they have failed miserably in their plans. 2 years and you see most of Indian media is talking about how intolerant as society we are and how backward thinking we are! They talk about "Freedom Of Expression" and "alternate reading" but they can't even hear Indian spiritual leader's criticism on selection process of one of the most prestigious award on earth. They twists actual story and present against public to gain sympathy for small girl and anger for spiritual leader. And few celebrities who doesn't have iota of information on what this one small man from middle class tamil family has achieved in his 40 years of career. They can't even think or dream about his achievements. And mind here, these are not the achievements for his profit but for the people around us.

But I am "funny bones", I am celebrity, I have over 1 million followers, I don't give damn about being disrespectful to one of the most hardworking selfless person on this earth!!!

Where has our sensitivity gone? Why can't We be more responsible when uttering rubbish without iota of information! Or it has just come down to the level where only TRP matters?
You are the chosen ones from population of 1.25 billion. You have millions looking at you as idol. You are all in for small girl who is brave and stands up for her principles but you don't even care to learn what one of your very own countryman has done for your country and world?

This is utter disgraceful. I feel hurt and shocked that someone can be so irresponsible. We as a society will fail when we would blindly follow so called intelligent and would not respect and acknowledge great saint of our lifetime.

I am Intolerant!

Recently so-called liberals in India have been witnessing the rise of so-called intolerance and thus making lot of intolerant comments about my humble tolerant nation India. :)

If we notice the people who are making statements for rising intolerance, one or other way they have been supporting Sonia Gandhi led Congress and their friend parties like RJD, SP, TMC, AAP, DMK, CPI, CPM or they have been opposing Narendra Modi from past decade. (Source: IndianExpress)

Letter signed by political leaders to deny US Visa for Narendra Modi
The question lies whether the definition of tolerance has been changed recently in their dictionary or these people have motives to portray India in bad image. The only reason for later point is because India is being led proudly by Narendra Modi whom they have been opposing from many years now. Not only that but they have failed miserably in doing so. People of India upfront rejected their claims and chose Modi as their leader in 2014 Loksabha Election. From past 16 months after Modi took over the office, opposition or their supporters have not got any substantial issue with his Government but opposition's job is to oppose. Unfortunately, they took approach of portraying India in bad image indirectly because of the ruling government. In doing so, they are not labeling only India but the citizen of this great nation as intolerant. It is obvious that they have fundamental issue with changing Indian mindset which is, people of India are started taking proud of vast and rich history of their religion and culture, who do not ridicule their religion or culture just because few wrong people. Yes, that is really shameful and intolerable in real sense. However the people of India is tolerating their absurd nonsense.
They know very well that there is no fact to back this claim so make so much noise for creating atmosphere of intolerance. Any novice person will understand their strategy or should it be called propaganda. First they claimed about attacks on Christians by protesting against Delhi church attacks which was eventually proven wrong(Source: Rediff). Then they claimed nun rape in West Bengal and all the opposition leaders claimed it was done by right wing activists without any proof whatsoever. Eventually accused were caught and turned out to be some Bangladeshi intruders(Source: Dailymail) Then recently there happened Dadri incident. Even in that key witness is being completely ignored by U.P. police.(Source: The Quint). Apart from these, there have been communal incidents occurring but when in history of independent India these incidents didn't happen?

Another interesting point to be noted when a person like me raises a concern over false intolerance claim, they are labelled with names like 'Bhakts', Right Winger, 'Sanghis', Extremist etc. and being ridiculed for views expressed. That isn't a freedom of expression for them. If that is intolerance for them I am glad that I am intolerant!

Aren't they hurting sentiments of crores of Indian citizen by calling names? The concerns being raise by people like me is result of appeasement politics by Congress and other parties and well backed by some elite media people but how long will you ridicule the section of people? Just to justify your hate towards one man who is Prime Minister now, you are trying to suppress so many voices.

Today I am hurt and shocked to witness such false atmosphere being created by few who hates a man for being proud Hindu nationalist!

Kholi No. 21

Before this 19th June, let me put the memories of those 59 days of 2013 in words which started on same day last year.

It was second visit to UK after almost one and half year from my last visit. This time assignment was only for two months and kind of vacation. J So I was really excited to meet old friends in London and colleagues in Staines. Bigger excitement was summer of UK, a perfect time for tourist! Among all these thought process I never thought or imagined about making new lifelong best friends.

So after some family moments at home in India, I took up a flight on 19th June early morning and landed in London on same day. I had to work all alone for a first week until one more colleague from Mumbai arrived for the same assignment. So as planned long back, I straightaway visited friends in the first weekend.

Start of new week and Sharath, a colleague from Mumbai office makes an entry in office. I saw him sitting on sofa while passing from main lobby; boyish hairstyle, fat but with 6 feet height. I actually felt like I am seeing myself in that sofa! ;) After some time we met "officially" through our manager and I was POC for him for everything as he was completely new to British Gas. By the way Sharath Kumar landed to client's place without bringing company laptop. Eventually that missing laptop became reason for our 'ROFL' moments everyday! Our conversation struck a chord right from the beginning, as we were quite similar in many ways. There were many striking moments from our first day conversation but I remember him calling someone as PMO (according to Sharath, he was equivalent to peon!) who was actually one of senior consultant! And I actually stopped him from making blunder and realised him about real designation of that "PMO". That was just a start of our golden days in UK.

We both were very lucky to get individual service apartment in one of the prime location of Staines. We really had super fun through out the week. So start of new week and we accidentally met one of our colleague Gowtham from Mumbai on Staines road. So let me put the exact conversation and incident here.
(Sharath and me were walking back to hotel after office. Gowtham walking towards us from opposite side, he smiles at us. Out of courtesy we smiled back (Damn, why we smiled!))
Gowtham: "Hey!"
We: "Hey!"
Gowtham (looking at Sharath): "I am from Capgemini, Mumbai. I saw you there!"
Sharath(still smiling, with surprise like he found some hardcore fan from India): "Ohhhh... but I never saw you there!"
(He must be feeling like celeb!)
Gowtham: "Arrey, I sit beside that guy!"
Sharath(with eyes in sky, trying hard to remember, still not able to remember):"Ohhh yeah, I saw you!"
(Meanwhile I was completely blank, thinking Sharath surely doesn’t remember anything.)
Gowtham(changing his facial expression and now with little worrisome face, looking at Sharath and Me): "Actually... I am in HUGE trouble guys." (And I heard him saying, he is huge trouble! J)
Me (with little worried face, now that was genuine):"Why? What happened?"
Gowtham: "I am suffering from bad stomach ache. I had appendix operation before coming here."
Sharath(little tensed): "Ohhhh man, where are you staying?"
Gowtham: "Anne Boleyn Hotel, and I can't cook over there and have to eat hotel food.... spicy...."
(He started making some weird expression. I was also suffering from stone pain that time and understood his pain more than mine! Now Sharath and me completely worried about this small, little colleague of ours.)
Me (with compassion in my eyes): "Don't worry, we prepare food by our own and you can have dinner with us! What do you say Sharath?"
(Sharath was already feeling of his "fan"'s pain)
Sharath: "Yes yes... of course!"
Gowtham(suddenly with bright eyes and big smile on face): "When can I come to your place tonight?"
Me and Sharath: "7:30"(Thats when we used to start cooking, we both thought that this guy will at least help us in cooking. That is how our conversion ended with bye bye and exchange of contact numbers and some telugu talk between Gowtham and Sharath.)
"
After that we reached our room. Right at 7:30 I went to Sharath's flat and we both started cooking for 3 persons. At 7:45 Sharath made a call to Gowtham to ask whether he is coming or not?!?! Gowtham replied, he’d be at our place in 5 minutes and those 5 minutes ended after 45 minutes at 8:30 when dinner was cooked and ready to serve. He made an entry. Sharath and me welcomed him with quite a look! First I thought, "Yes, saale se bartan wash karvaunga" but then realised we had dishwasher! L

And this is how Mr. Gowtham became friend of ours. Meanwhile one of our gang members Prajakta Shringarpure was already in Staines and spent some moments from precious time of hers. After few more days, one more entry to our gang and that was of Dhwani Shah, again from Mumbai! So that was our gang of Kholi No. 21; Sharath, Dhwani, Gowtham, Prajakta and I! J Moreover my parents also visited UK for that one month.

Next 4 weeks were full on laughter riot, with so-called 'ROFL' and 'Bestest' moments! We also had one 'visiting faculty' Resho Pingle a friend of Praji and later also friend of all of us. It is simply impossible to describe so many special incidents and moments we spent together here in detail. So let me just highlight as much as possible here through words and photos.

First time I, in fact all of us saw a man actually "rotating on floor laughing". That tasty Raita every evening by Dhwani, late night 'Gupshup' in front of beautiful river Thames, that 'SRK' moments ;), ‘Apne pair pe kulhadi marna’, fighting for Ice-cream, shouting in office with Sharath and Dhwani, lunch in office with Praji, Sharath and Dhwani, dairy-milk after every lunch, my interesting encounters with security head at office, curries without tomato and potato for almost a month, forgetting mobile at bench in the rain by Praji, bunking office early to visit Windsor castle, that rain and skipping rocks on sea water and super slippery and risky climbing at Durdle Door and 'Maje lete hue Seagulls' with Praji's almost crying face, beautiful Peak District and Cave, that shouting and racing in small town of Castleton, double rainbow, crazy night-out in London(I missed most of it), becoming jumping jacks in Stonehenge, one of the oldest Cathedral of Salisbury, wonderful beach of Bournemouth, spending complete silent moments enjoying and feeling the amazing nature at Isle of Wight, driving along the seashore, stopping a car at random place by the road and getting down to random beach, and finally visiting lake district with so many adventures, playing "dumb charades" late till mid-night, kind of trekking, sitting in the middle of green mountain,  car tire puncture, driving a car with that for almost 8 kilometers and after much of a bargaining spending night in small bar cum hotel with 10 pounds each in village called Gosforth, and visiting our last destination the Wast Water and witnessing amazing, unprecedented beauty of Lake District. Phew… J

Oops, how can I forget the real ROFL moment, when I dedicated a song from film Guzaarish to Sharath, "Ke Tera Zikr Hai... Ya Itr Hai..." and that man to whom this song was dedicated! :D

I am sure we all have permanent frame of pictures in our memory for all of these moments. Thank you so much Kholi No. 21 for giving lifelong friendship and memories.

P.S. Gowtham, please get up from the floor and stop laughing now! J

The lost shine of Hinduism

"The ignorant are fanatically religious and the intelligent are fashionably atheist. The wise are obviously spiritual" - Sri Sri Ravishankar

How true is this statement! Today prejudice prevails towards the Hinduism, spiritual gurus, pundits, ancient rituals. Particularly this is the case with the youth of India. Today's youth don't think twice before blaming whole religion and all the Gurus or even God for all wrongdoing prevails in the religion and they also feel that they are intelligent in doing so, whereas most elders actually believe each and everything in the name of God.

I am not denying that there are fake pundits and gurus exist in India. I am just saying because of few fake people in religion, you cannot blame that religion itself is fake or each and everything in Hinduism is fake and stop practicing invaluable vast knowledge it has given to the world!

There is lot of wrong things happening all over the world. We don't blame whole world for that. We don't blame our Muslim friend because of thousands of terrorists who practice Islam around the world. Then how come that logic does not apply here? If you visit some fake doctor and he/she gives you wrong medication. Once you come to know about the truth, will you blame medical industry or the fake doctor? I know you have very clear answer in your mind. It is the doctor who is to be blamed. When it comes to spiritual guru, people are so casual to say for each and every spiritual guru that, "Abhi iski bi bari ayegi".

It is not only fake pundits are to be blamed for this mess up. Human mind sees what people around us wants it to see. We perceived the "concept" which actually does not exist. Now the "concept" here is, "Hinduism is bunch of superstitions and meaningless rituals and thus all spiritual gurus or pundits are thieves and fake!” There is a definite role of TV media in changing people's way of looking at something. Is it the fact that all Hindu gurus have done all wrong? The answer is NO; they have done much more good for the society then what is being projected by media. All flashy and insensitive news about wrong doings of some random fake gurus are all over the news. The prime time coverage media gives to spread negative things is nowhere in comparison to positive news. Doesn't it affect the mentality of viewers and the society? Doesn't it change your way of looking at the religion or Guru? If this is media's responsibility which spreads only negative impression, whose responsibility is to spread positive? I am sure media is not going to take much interest in something which is good. I read somewhere, "Don't be a football of other's opinion!". It is very much relevant here. One has to experience by himself/herself before coming to any decision. It doesn't take too long to decide using your intellect. This negative atmosphere has completely taken away bright shine of Hinduism and its practices. Today it takes long time to make people understand that meditation/yoga/spiritual knowledge is necessary in today's hectic world. To live life happier way, we have to give some respect and place to this practices in our life.

In ancient times, the King use to include spiritual gurus in their cabinet and every child use to get spiritual education and everyone use to practice mediation, yoga. Basically everyone use to spend a small time from their daily routine for "Dharma". We need to bring back right balance in the life. Today we are living in the world where almost every minute, some serious crime is taking place. We definitely need this to be controlled by strict laws, but simultaneously we need to think and work on, how can we make people more sensitive and aware, to avoid them from indulging in heinous crime? There is no other way but to make people practice Dharma in routine life. We have to establish the lost paradigm of Hinduism, the respect towards the gurus, the real essence of Hinduism.

We need to stop this cheap movement of shaming and defaming India's one of the greatest gift to mankind - The Hinduism. It is just way of living life and not only religion.

Vote India!

Sometimes "Why" is the only question arise in my mind for everything I watch and hear. I love my country. I have passion for my country. Like me there may lot many others who have passion for my country, their country - India. I want to help my country to grow with prosperity and peace. I want my countrymen to grow with happiness and wealth, but then everyday my mind asks WHY?
Why is my country suffering from so many diseases after 66 years of Independence?
Why so many of my countrymen sleep in hunger everyday?
Why have politicians become so corrupt?
Why can't I see a drop of patriotism in any politician?
Why politicians and their relatives become richer my thousand times in no time and still so many people follow them?
Why can't a politician see a pain of a poor Indian and they keep robbing us?

and then if I look at the answers, this is what I get...
Why doesn't my countrymen VOTE - basic and most important factor for any healthy democracy?
Why has my countrymen become so selfish that he/she can't even put a tiny effort for their country?
Why can't I see a drop of patriotism in most of us?

The disease lies within a common man of this country and thus within their rulers and not vice versa. We are the pillars of this country. Stronger we become and stronger the nation would be. We have to become responsible enough to make these rulers to understand that, we are not blind. We have to take a very tiny effort to VOTE. This is a must act for each and every countryman to make their mother land stronger and make our politicians responsible.

Let us make a small promise to make our country stronger, let us take a pledge to vote for coming election. Most of us have not voted so far and we are witnessing the result. This time let us VOTE and motivate others also to vote and see the difference.

If you are not registered voter with the Election Commission, following link would make your work very easy to register as a voter.
